Mobile Bus Pass Now Available for Undergraduates!

Posted on Jul 24 2024

We’ve heard you loud and clear that you want the convenience of having your Unitrans and Yolobus bus pass on your phone. Starting Summer Session II, ASUCD Unitrans is introducing a new mobile bus pass option on the ZipPass app for undergraduate students! By the week of August 12, ASUCD Unitrans will be sending out email notifications to all undergraduates registered in Summer Session II classes announcing that your mobile bus pass is ready to use. Download the ZipPass app once you receive the notification, register with your @ucdavis.edu email, and you’ll be ready to use your new mobile bus pass!

This new convenience will make riding Unitrans and Yolobus to and from campus easier. You may also still use your physical undergraduate AggieCard to ride. For all undergraduates registered for fall classes but not Summer Session II, ZipPass access will be added a week before fall quarter classes begin.

Questions? Contact Unitrans at unitrans@ucdavis.edu or 530-752-2877.

To use your mobile UC Davis undergraduate bus pass:

  1. Wait for the email notification from ASUCD Unitrans (unitrans@ucdavis.edu) informing you that your bus pass is ready! You’ll receive this email by the second week of Summer Session 2.

  2. Download the free ZipPass app from the Apple Store or Google Play.

  3. Set up your account using your UC Davis email account (must be your @ucdavis.edu account to use this mobile bus pass).

  4. Once your account is set up, click on the “Available” tab at the top of the ZipPass screen and click on the Undergrad Pass to use! Just show the driver or conductor your pass when boarding and you’re ready to ride! You may be asked to tap your screen to ensure validity.

Unitrans is Fare-Free July 23 & July 24

Posted on Jul 2 2024

Unitrans will operate fare-free on Tuesday, July 23 and Wednesday, July 24 due to the excessive heat warning. Need to find a cooling center in Davis? Click here!

Unitrans may operate fare-free up to 15 days per year on declared Spare the Air days by sparetheair.com or Excessive Heat Warnings as defined by the National Weather Service. Four free days remain after July 24.

According to the National Weather Service, an "Excessive Heat Warning is issued within 12 hours of the onset of extremely dangerous heat conditions. The general rule of thumb for this Warning is when the maximum heat index temperature is expected to be 105° or higher for at least 2 days and night time air temperatures will not drop below 75°; however, these criteria vary across the country, especially for areas not used to extreme heat conditions."
